L.D.S. - On The Cross 7"/Nightmare LP

Mid-80's hardcore punk band with songs mostly with a horror theme. L.D.S. hailed from Salt Lake City, Utah. Always wondered how life must be for punx among all those religious freaks. Well there were a few known punk bands from Utah like Spittin' Teeth (on The Siren comp.LP), Massacre Guys, Maimed For Life (who have a nice 7" as well).
'On The Cross' was released in 1985 and the front sleeve was made by Maurizio Dodi, member of Italian band Raw Power.
The 'Nightmare' LP was released in 1986. There's an untitled piece at the end of the B-side which I entitled as 'Outro'. My copy is 2ndhand and has no lyricsheet (if it ever came with one).
As stated before, most lyrics are about blood 'n horror but 'Breeders' is a nice stab at those anti-contraception/anti-masturbation freaks who breed like rats although they can't afford all those kids. Reminds me of that creepy woman from Alaska. Her ethics are a crime against humanity IMO. Just like the pope who is against the use of condoms and is indirectly responsible for the thousands of AIDS-related deaths in Africa.
About the band, don't know what happened to them as it seems they weren't around for long. Maybe they became 'good christians' after all?
Oh and anyone knows what the initials stand for?

Thanks a lot. Been looking for this band´s records for some time now. You don´t happen to have anything by Iowa punk bands like A Child's Trust In God, Abscess, Children of the Corn, Pent Up Aggression, Welfare Skate?

Whoah...this one came outta nowhere! Thanks! Redolent of the Battalion of Saints' better moments. Cool lookin' band too! Unlikely places such as Utah seemed to produce odd/charismatic HC bands like this (see Neon Christ from KY, Jerry's Kidz from NM).

I saw these guys many many times here in Salt Lake.
LDS stood for Local Death Squad and/or Lucifers Death Squad depending on which band member you asked.

I seen these guys many times a long time ago. My sister was dating the bassis. His name was grey. Well, that's what we called him at least. Cool house. Full of coffins and shit like that...Anyways, the name initials stood for Local Death Squad. I think someone else had mentioned that on a different comment. B ool and keep up the great work!!!

holy fuck! thank you for that iowa link...shit i totally remember circus records being the only record store that even dared to carry punk but like all independent shit then they would mark it up until vinyl fetish opened...and then closed sniff...and i used to have ACTIG cassette as well as COTC and Slum Party...oh man the memories of the FUCK Church...thank you thank you thank you...to me having punk in a place where its considered dangerous makes you really appreciate it more and hate the hot topic invasion...but then i guess thats just me

Wow. I used to live across the alley from these guys in SLC. I have Nightmare, was just cleaning out some shit and found it. White viynl and all. I could post lyrics or something. I need to make copies of everything, maybe post some of the graphics from within. From what I was told there were only 500 original copies pressed. Cool to hear it again without dragging my turntable out again. I have some wild stories with these guys. I wornder if any are still alive. 'cept me.

1985, 1986 were good years for music in UTAH... especially for the horror stuff... besides L.D.S. there was The Stench and THEATRE OF ICE.

I think some members went to the band Visual Discrimination!!!
