Political HC punks from Colorado, who like to drink beer as well.
This tape has tracks from various studio, demo and live stuff, recorded between 1993 and 1996. I did my best to level the volume on the different sessions here. Last 2 tracks are the live songs (at Mercury Cafe).
Flux Of Disorder appear on 3 split EP's, with Up Yours!, Armistice and Vomitüs.
Guitarplayer Andy Lefton played in Provoked and now plays in War//Plague.
I also think there's a connection with Deadstate as well.

Distress - Demo 1988

I know there's a lot of bands called Distress, but this one is a Belgian HC band from the late 80's.
Don't know a lot about them and I think I never seen 'em live. Guess they played more locally, in the Mol-Geel area. They thank Jakke (then bassplayer of Agathocles, later of The Sexmachines and now in Creature With The Atom Brain) and D.B.C. which stands for Danish Butter Cookies, another HC band from that area.
The tape states 14 tracks, but there's only 12.

Let's get back to Belgium to post some demo tapes of 80's HC/punk bands.
Here's the one and only demo tape of Deviant Gedrag (Deviant Behaviour) from Wambeek. Their style goes way back to the early punk sound, contrary to the more prevalent HC sound in the mid-80's. Great midtempo punk and strong song material. Recording quality is pretty good as well.
Drummer Dirk now plays in poprockband De Mens.

The Scuzz - Liability 7"

Cool HC punk 7" from this Wisconsin band. Pretty unknown and not that easy to find these days.
'Liability' was released in 1998 on Asinine Records, the label of Asinine Solution. Asinine Solution is better known due to a 7" released on Beer City. Their other 2 7"s were released on Asinine Records of which the 1st is impossible to find. Only 200 copies. So if anyone could find the 'Your Wisconsin Friends' 7", please let me know. Btw, I have a demo/live tape with older stuff of them. Will try to rip and post it later.
Off to The Scuzz. 8 tracks of late 90's HC punk similar to all those Beer City bands from that time.

Nerves - 13 Styles Strike 7"

2nd release of UK HC punx Nerves. First release was a split 7" with the great Substandard. Substandard's singer is now in Constant State Of Terror. I've even seen Substandard with a complete different line-up on a festival in Nottingham called Rock'n Reggae. But that's a very long time ago. Try to get the discography album.
Don't have much info on Nerves. They play quite fast HC with a strong punk influence. It's not thrash though.
This 7" was the 1st release on Nottingham label Delerict. 2nd one is the 'Back In Rags' 7" of The Slum Gang. Pretty hard to find these days. The Slum Gang had Lloyd on vocals who also sang for Default and also for Concrete Sox on their last euro tour. He's not on any Concrete Sox recordings. I remember the Sox staying at our place before starting their tour. We were passing on spliffs but Lloyd didn't want that 'hippie shit', ha ha. Also got Pug on drums who was in The Losers later on. Met him on my visit in Notts and I remember him to be a very funny guy.
Ok , back to the Nerves. 6 short blasts of punky HC and the 7" is over before you know it.

Clusterfux / Up Yours! - On Capitol Hill With Punks And Swill Split LP

Split album on Queen City Punx from 1997 with 2 Denver, Colorado bands, Up Yours! and Clusterfux.
Up Yours! were an uptempo neo-streetpunk band and probably the only band in this style I really like. No posturing like The Casualties and others. Up Yours! 1st output was a split 7" with political punk band Flux Of Disorder on Hazy Morning. After this split album the band did a 7" 'False Flags' and then changed their name to Scapegoat. They only appeared under this monniker on the Colorado comp. album 'A Force To Be Wreckin' With'.
Clusterfux mix punk and metal to create their own style of male/female vocals crusty hardcore. This split album was their 1st vinyl appearance. 2 years later followed the self-titled 12", also on Queen City Punx. The band existed for a very long time and only recently split. The later line-up didn't have the female vocalist anymore and I never heard that stuff. 'Thrash Mongrel' was their 3rd release, a CD-only album on Rodent Popsicle. A series of split 7"s follows in the next years with System Shit, The Last Priority and Apocalyptic Christ. Their last album is called 'Problem/Reaction/Solution' another CD-only release.
11 tracks for Up Yours! and 10 for Clusterfux. I'll post the 1st Clusterfux 12" in time as both releases are limited pressings and hard-to-find.

2nd comp. tape on Smurfpunx. Compiled by Mokka and showing very diverse and international stuff here. Actually, this tape opened my ears for a lot of lesser known international bands, in a time where people still where very UK-oriented.
There's also some bands here which music has to be smuggled across the iron curtain. Remember that this was made during full cold war. Only a few years before the wall should fall. It was very dangerous to smuggle Western music into the Eastblock and vice versa.
On side A we have Toxic Waste (Northern-Ireland), Armatrak (New-Zealand), Bikini (Hungary), 2 Minuta Mržjne (Yugoslavia), FOH (West-Germany), Anti-Dogmatikss (Spain), Funeral Oration (Netherlands), SH Draumur (Iceland), Siekiera (Poland), Nyx Negativ & Bedrövlerz (Sweden) and Lobotomia (Brazil).
Side B contains Ex-Humans (Greece), Butcher (France), The Zero Point (Denmark), Powerage (South-Africa), Saukerle (East-Germany), A.P.P.L.E. (USA), Cani (Italy), Kumikristus (Finland) and Sponky Business (Belgium).

Originally released as a double pack with a 7" of Saigan Terror on Pushead's Bacteria Sour label in 2001. This version is the repress in 2002 on Czech label Bad Man.
Bought every Japanese record I could get my hand on back then. Haven't listened to this one for a long time. It's OK but not outstanding.

The Assailants - s/t 7" / Hate Machine 7"

Here are the last ones on Violent Reaction. Both by The Assailants, VRR 1 and 5 actually. Violent Reaction was run by the people of The Assailants. The band, with a different line-up, was initially called Violent Reaction.
Both 7"s are a bit different. On the 1st one they had 2 guitarplayers and the songs dealt with their hate for boneheads and the system. On 'Hate Machine', both guitarplayers were replaced by one and the lyrics are more of the silly non-PC kind, not unlike Street Trash. Mike and Drew would later play in Street Trash. The 'Hate Machine' EP have a few different pressings/versions with different artwork. I scanned the sleeves of the normal version and the spraypainted version.
The Assailants also released the 'Modern Technology' CD in 2000, and a split 7" with the Swellbellys in 2002. Never heard those.
There's a 6th release on Violent Reaction by Scattered Fall. Not really a Violent Reaction release as there were some problems between the band members and Ron Ramirez set up a new label 'Deadpan Records' that only did the Scattered Fall 7".

Dona Nobis Pacem - Live 1988

Well here's another live recording of Antwerp band Dona Nobis Pacem. This one was recorded by my friend Vrokker in the 1000 Appeltjes. I think they opened for Extreme Noise Terror and Chaos UK.
Dona Nobis Pacem was an anarcho-punk band with a strong Antisect influence. Unfortunately they never recorded anything officially. There was a plan to do a split album with E.N.E. but that never happened. I think singer/guitarplayer Muffie was also in Brutal Society before.
Vrokker started recording when the 1st song was already happening. The last song is also cut-off due to the tape ending. It was a bis song; but you can hear that one on the other live recording.
The other live recording (from a split tape with Chumbawamba) can be found on No Longer Forgotten Music or Old Fast And Loud.

Here's a tape released to celebrate the end of the Reagan administration. It was also a benefit for the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign.
Mostly UK bands here with one from Germany (Inhuman Conditions) and France (Original Disease). A lot of wellknown names from the late 80's UK scene and a lot of different sounding ones as well. There's even 2 tracks of metal band Paradise Lost included.
Solstice is not the doom metal band, but a postpunk/gothy sounding band which I never heard of before. Also Hedgehogs is a complete mystery to me.
Sound quality differs as some recordings are live.

Radio Soulwax: Hardcore Or Die

The De Waele brothers are better known as 2manyDJ's and wellknown for their mash-ups. On their recently launched radio station they do a 1 hour HC/punk mash-up. It's really cool to listen to as well as to look at. They took the sleeves of the records and made some great animation with them. They got a lot of help of Steve, their drummer who played in some HC bands in the late 80's, early 90's (Chronic Disease, Rise Above). Funny to see those tape sleeves with the tracklisting of a HC radioshow from Lille on Radio Campus.

Now I think some purists will look at this as a blasphemy to their beloved punk music. But punk is all about blasphemy and a 'fuck you' attitude and personally I've always hated that reactionary and conformist view of what punk should be. The mash-up stays close to the energy of what HC punk is.

Radio Soulwax is broadcasted in GMT time. Check the schedule and also the time zone where you live in. In Belgium the show starts at 16.00 and 01.00.
Hope you can sit through the whole hour (longer would be hard to digest I guess).

V/A Benelux Fight Back Tape

Comp. tape released in Belgium with Dutch and Belgian bands. No Luxemburg band included here. This small country was a wasteland when it comes to punk stuff. No release date, address included. Maybe it came with a booklet?
Tape opens with Lärm. No introduction needed. One of Europe's most wellknown bands, and one of the most extreme in the world as well.
Next is Pure Hate. Did a great 7".
No Numbers of Tielt is the 3rd one. Tracks taken from their one and only demo tape.
We go back over the border, to Eindhoven for Afflict.
Side A ends with .C.P.D. of Hamme. C.P.D. stood for Complete Political Disorder or Corrupt Police Dept. and maybe a few others. I think this band had a lot of potential. Never released anything, not even a demo tape. It's very hard to find some decent recordings of them. Great political HC/punk.
Side B opens with another band from Tielt, Repulsives. This band had Brob on bass, now responsible for the Smurfpunx site. He was also the author of Tilt! fanzine. Repulsives did record songs for an aborted split album.
Next band is the Dutch Kikkerspuug. Appear on the 'On Our Way To Fools Paradise' comp., released a tape 'Galgemaal' in 1988 and an album 'Wild Vlees' on Zooid in 1990.
Scoundrels were a nice punkband from The Netherlands as well. With Patrick who now runs Studio 195 were a lot of HC bands (Reproach, Dead Stop) did their recordings. The Scoundrels did one tape and 2 albums. They also appear on the 'Babylon: Bleibt Fahren' comp. LP and 'Alle 55 Kort' comp. tape.
Loud Warning were a noisy HC band out of The Netherlands. Appeared on the 'On Our Way To Fools Paradise' comp. as well.

Subversion - Pignation 7"

Not the Belgian one but a band from Australia from the early 90's. Pretty decent hardcore delivered here. 4 songs with a political edge. I could do without the "cookie monster" vocals in the 3rd track. Luckily it's not throughout the whole song but I'm not a fan of this style of growling. Record was released in 1994 on No Deal Records.
Subversion appeared on a few comps. (like the Circle Storm 7" on No Deal) and also did a split CD with Spazz. There's also a split 7" with Mindcrack on Snapshot Records. (Years ago I won this split together with the Minute Minder 7" but the records never arrived and the seller never replied. Think it was a rip-off).
The songs on this 7" were re-recorded for the Spazz split.
No Deal Records was a small label out of Camperdown that put the early 90's Sydney punk scene on the map. Only 5 releases which are getting very hard to get these days. The label was run by Sean who would later start Short Fuse Records. Actually the 5th release of No Deal was also the 1st release on Short Fuse as it was delayed for a long time due to the bands break-up and the label's demise.

Pretty rare 7" of this Utrecht punkband. My friend Vrokker had this on CDR and I made mp3's of it.
For those who already heard the record, the quality is quite awful. You can hardly hear the music through the vinyl noise. I cranked up the volume so you can hear the songs. Unfortunately the rip sounds a bit 'metallic'.
The scans were taken from Punk Rock Picture Sleeves.
The 7" was released in 1981 on Rock Against. The Rapers also appear on the 'Zeven-Vijftig' comp. album on the same label.
Distortion To Deafness posted some demo tracks as well.

V/A Ook Dit Is Belgisch 2 Tape

Already posted the first one, here's the second volume and I guess last one. Another snapshot of the late 80's HC/punk scene in Belgium. Quite a variety on different styles here.
Side A starts with M.A.D., with tracks taken from the demo tape I posted a while ago. Sounds quite muddy as the tape is a bit worn.
Next one is Funeral Dress when they were still a small band. They're quite known these days but I'll admit I'm not a big fan. Here they offer the 2 tracks from their debut 7" and an extra one. They even ended up on the Killed By Death 6 album. What a big mistake as the 7" was released in 1987!
Next are Mental Disturbance, crossover/HC band from Brussels.
Legal Suffering follows with 3 tracks of their demo tape (which I unfortunately don't have). As they were from Bruges, I knew these guys very well. These are songs from the 1st line-up. Legal Suffering would resurrect with only the drummer as original member and Mario "Marbels", ex-drummer for No Debt on guitar. The original vocalist sadly crashed with his motorcycle in the late 80's. Mario committed suicide in 2003.
Next one is Anti Dote, a speedmetal band from Bruges.
Chronic Death was a weird noisecore band. Later changed their name to Coda.
Side B starts with Cold Turkey. Don't have any info on them.
Vortex is next, wellknown veteran punkband.
Know absolutely nothing of Vladimir Et Les Aerosols. From Brussels?
My own band Chronic Disease follows with 4 short live tracks, early style.
Exhaustless Revolt was a political HC band from around Antwerp.
Capital Scum closes the tape with 3 tracks, of which the last one is called 'Michael Klakson' for some reason.

The Shaved Pigs - Breakfast Is Served LP

Sorry for the long wait but I had some PC issues.
Haven't seen the debut album of NY's The Shaved Pigs on any blog yet. It's been requested on Down Underground a while ago where you can find their 2nd album 'Cheers'.
The Shaved Pigs remind me of some goofy version of the Dead Kennedy's. Some lyrics are a bit more serious though.
The Shaved Pigs' 1st release was a 3-track 7" in 1986. Quite rare. It has the song 'Dying In The Year 2000' which was re-recorded for this album. Don't know the other 2 tracks so maybe these can be found here as well.
After 'Cheers' follows the last release, the 'Big Brass Knuck' 7" on Vital Music in 1992.
'Breakfast Is Served' was also released in Holland on Shadowline (in a normal sleeve). My copy is the US version on Porcine in a gatefold sleeve.
'Slam' is their own version of The Isley Brothers song 'Shout'. Produced by Kramer (Shimmy Disc Records).

V/A 24 Love Songs Tape

1st comp. tape released by Smurf Punk Tapes out of Belgium. This tape was compiled by Mokka, one of the core members of the Smurfpunx Collective. This tape was released in 1985 and includes diverse HC punk bands from Europe.
I also have the 2nd comp. tape on Smurf Punk Tapes which I need to rip in the near future. Read about a 3rd one called 'Thrashing With Your Parents' but have never seen or heard of this one before.
Bands included are: Maniacs (BRD), SOD (Sweden), Political Asylum (Scotland, UK), Aktive Notwehr (BRD), Enola Gay (Denmark), Savage Circle (Italy), Bedrövlerz (Sweden), Disgust (Netherlands), Post Mortem (UK), Man's Hate (UK) and Dirty Scums (Belgium).
I guess the title of the tape is a pisstake on all those shitty comp. albums released in the 80's with so-called romantic love songs.

Reprobates were a short-lived HC band from Toronto, Canada. They recorded the excellent 'Stress' 7" for No Way Records in 2008 and then disappeared. They also delivered one song for the Stress Domain comp. 7" 'Sick Of Fun'.
Probably some members are doing other bands now but who can follow it all?
Here's the 2007 demo. 5 tracks of which 'Abandoned City' and 'Rat Maze' were re-recorded for the EP.

M.A.D. - Bestial Force Demo '88

Here's an obscure cult band, playing some grindcore/deathcore. They were from the French part of Belgium, actually from Charleroi, one of the most depressing towns in Belgium.
Sean of Damaging Noise posted this one as well a few days ago. Seems that this demo was planned to be released as a split LP with Agathocles but it never came out. Didn't know that.
The initials stand for Mutilations And Death. The band was managed by The Phantom, an older guy who came to some of the Smurfpunx gigs in Aalst in the late 80's. From what I know, he was an obsessed collector of all kinds of underground extreme music. Most notable about him was that he has one arm.
Sean didn't have a sleeve so this one is included as well in the file. Also the backside with the lyrics which are pretty silly. But you need to know that French-speaking people aren't well versed in English.

Comp. tape with Belgian bands released in 1988. This one was compiled by Dirk Vanhees, a guy from Beringen. Was in touch with him for a while, together with his good friend Chris Vanhoudt. Don't know what happened to them later but I found a Myspace page of Dirk and he's into other stuff now.
All the bands deliver 4 tracks each; some sent in live recordings. I didn't seperate those. I scanned the whole sleeve so you can check the titles there.
Bands on Side A of the tape are Heibel (with live tracks from their 2nd album), Disgorge (tracks from their 1st demo), Ear Damage (again live but awful quality), Dawn Of Liberty (live) and Capital Scum (mix of live and studio tracks).
Sde B has Hate Crew (live), Chaotic Contrast (rehearsal recordings), Chronic Disease (live), Tyfoon (live: this is a metal band which was a bit dubious as I'm told. Won't judge but starting the song 'Gaschamber' with "This is a song about Adolf Hitler" doesn't help much) and Mental Disturbance (demo tracks).
This tape came with a booklet but that one is stashed somewhere and it would take too much time to search for it.

Very first vinyl recording for the great United Super Villains, or better known as U.S.V. Both bands on this 7" were from La Crosse, Wisconsin.
U.S.V. did a 7" on Havoc and the 'Chokeslammed Back To Life' LP on Deranged. Both aren't that difficult to get. The recordings aren't that powerful as on their their later releases but worth checking out anyway.
Don't know anything about The Krammies. They're not a bad listen but nothing special.
This 7" was released in 1997 on Punk House.

I promised madmohawk (a good friend of mine) to post the 1st official Chronic Disease demo.
Well what to tell about them? Chronic Disease was the 1st HC band I used to be in. I did the vocals.
We started late '86 with a different line-up. It was Vrokker on bass, Sling on guitar, Wimpie on drums and me on vocals. We rehearsed in Wimpie's parent's garage. I remember the drums being a small jazz drumkit with no cymbals so we used sawblades instead! With this line-up we only did 3 gigs. The 1st one was at someone's father's garage working place with local speedmetal band Anti Dote and I think The Mushrooms played as well. The 2nd was at Sint-Laureins (Sentenaarke) were we managed to hunt the audience out of the room to go to the bar to listen to Metallica. You know this was in full metal cross-over period. 3rd and last was in Oostende opening for Capital Scum, a revised No Debt, Ear Damage and Bad Influence. Absolutely no response and also some skinheads looking for trouble didn't add for a joyful experience. Then Wimpie was forced to leave the band by his parents due to bad school results. We had another gig in front in Bredene with bands like Mad Noise, Crap Society & Disgorge. As we were playing quite fast stuff at the time, we asked the drummer of Disgorge to step in for this one as he was the fastest drummer we knew back then. actually he played way too fast for us!
Then Sling moved to play drums and we asked Meyer of local rockband Toespieze (of which Sling also played drums) to play with us. So we were settled with this line-up until the end of the band in 1992. We also started to make songs instead of noise. A tape with 2 live gigs (Oostende & Bredene) and some rehearsal recordings were made by us, mainly for our friends.
We went to do quite some gigs, even a few in Holland but never toured. Bands we played with: Hiatus, Vortex, Verdun, Membranes, ENT, Doom, Concrete Sox, Econochrist, Legal Suffering, Chronic Death, Mind Exit, Chaos UK, De Kift, Nausea, Rose Rose, Mental Disturbance, Spermbirds, Agathocles, Bambix, At Last (now After All), Scraps, Oi Polloi, ...
'Who Will Pay The Price Of Our Disregard?' isn't actually our 1st demo recordings.We recorded some songs in the Mol area, in some garage, but the tape got lost. Vrokker found a very lo-fi recording of this session on tape. Hell, I can't even remember the titles of some of those songs anymore.
This demo was recorded in Bruges with the help of Vanne on 4-track and was later re-released with a live recording (Bissegem) by Bruno (later of Genet Records) as a benefit for ALF-prisoners.
The tape came with an A4 xeroxed booklet with lyrics and artwork/collages. All our artwork was done by Sling. Can't find the booklet for the moment though...
We recorded a 7" for Innerforce (released in 1990) and also a mini-album, originally planned to be released on Genet Records but the DAT got lost. The song for the Profane Existence comp. came from that session as well.
Vrokker also played in the Wasted Bunnies, Pertotal, The Barjackers, Crapulius Ceasar and now Seized By Man.
Meyer didn't really have any band but as a schooled guitarplayer went to study jazzguitar. He joined Seized By Man recently to play guitar.
Sling played in Rise Above, Pertotal and now in Soulwax.
I played drums for Capital Offence, Private Jesus Detector, and guitar for 4 Minute Warning, Holefiller, Katastrophobia and now Ravaged.
Were we a political band? Yes we were but later on we tried to avoid the cheap sloganeering and simple views of most political bands.
Were we a positive band? In the early days, yes. This was the time of bands like Heresy and organizers like Smurfpunx who brought a really positive vibe into the punk scene. Later on it watered down, and with growing up, we had/have a more darker view on things. In the late 80's-early 90's, HC was more of a straight edge thing, while we felt we had more in common with bands like ENT or Nausea.
Were we a XXX band? No. Some members were straight, some for a short time. Later on we got more into drinking and smoking dope, except for Sling who stayed straight through the band's existence.

Compilation tape released in France sometime in the late 80's. Don't know if there were other volumes released.
Quite some variety here.
Psycho Sin opens side A with 6 tracks of noisecore. Pretty infamous band from New Jersey.
Corrupted Morals follows with 3 tracks. One of the better late 80's USHC bands (from CA).
Next is Finnish punkband Sabotaasi. Sabotaasi released 3 7"s (of which 2 are 1-sided).
Re-Ignition came from Port Moody, BC, Canada. They deliver 2 metallic HC tracks.
Wretched have 1 track, the title track of their 2nd album.
More noisecore from Deathnoise of France. 3 tracks.
Side A ends with the great Infezione from Italy.
Side B starts with one of the better bands here and what a surprise! It's The Heretics from Wales. This band had members who would later form the Cowboy Killers.
More metallic HC from Sodomy Law (Delafield, WI) and Adversity (Delta, BC, Canada). The latter did an album on UK label Manic Ears.
2nd French band is Eat Yourself. Quite raw and primitive HC.
Next are Crucial Youth. No introduction necessary I guess. 4 tracks of hilarious and over-the-top SxE HC.
Last band is Extreme Noise Terror who deliver 3 tracks.
Who could think that one release could include both Crucial Youth and ENT?
Oh yeah, the tape has 37 tracks, not 38 as mentioned on the sleeve. No track is missing here.

Please remember that March the 15th it will be Phil ENT's funeral. I've seen him playing with ENT in the late 80's, and also with Optimum Wound Profile in the mid-90's. Didn't follow ENT anymore after Phonophobia to be honest. Really sad (and a bit creepy) to see people around my age die. My condolances to his friends and family.

Rough Justice - Pink Elephants In Yellow Trees Tape

Got this one from my old time friend Brob, who was a member of the Smurfpunx Collective as a complementary post to his submission on the Smurfpunx blog.
Rough Justice were from Aalst, the place were a lot of Smurfpunx gigs were organized.
Rough Justice played that typical thrashmetal/HC crossover style that was popular in the late 80's. I must admit that I've never been a big fan of the genre but Rough Justice plays this kind of stuff very well.
I remember an all-dayer in Mol, where my old band Chronic Disease had to play with a shitload of now-forgotten crossover bands. Our band and the all-girls melodic punkband Bambix were a bit out of place on that day.
Never seen Rough Justice, but the singer is the brother of someone I know very well (didn't know that!). And for the Dutch-speaking Belgians (don't like to use the word Flemish these days): drummer Joost now plays in De Laatste Showband.

Geoff and Andy were later in Fuckedupmess and Andy is also a member of the great Brain Handle.

Comp. album of Gunma HC bands. Best known is Dooms Day. This comp. was released on For The Deaf, a local label probably run by Dooms Day as the 1st release is a flexi of the band. The other release on For The Deaf is the 'Corruption' comp. LP.
All the bands played together on the Fight It Out gig series, sometimes with guests like Cheeky, So What or Innocents.
Won't say that these are the cream of the crop Japanese HC bands but it's an interesting document of the Gunma scene. Bands include Violent Mohawks, Grace, Gillmore, Dischord, Block Buster and Dooms Day. No extra points for original band names here. I do like Block Buster's title 'Money Makes The Stupid Cops' though.
I think this one was released in 1989/90.

Here's a pretty obscure demo tape I could obtain this year. Black Eyes Club was a short-lived HC band of Ontario who were into skating as this tape is a benefit for the Hamilton Skateboard Assembly.
Black Eyes Club have a strong early Hüsker Dü influence. They even cover 'Lifeline' of them.
There were plans for a 7" on Schizophrenic Records but the band already fell apart. Too bad.
Don't know when the tape was recorded but must be the first half of this decade.

The End - Revenge 7"

5th release on IM Records, the label of The Faction. This 7" of The End, released in 1986 is actually a solo recording by Adam "Bomb" Segal after the split of The Faction. He produced it himself and even played all instruments.
After this 7" Adam would form a full band. They released the 'If You Still Believe' 12" (1986) and, as The Living End, 'The Picture That Came With The Frame' LP (1988) , both on IM Records as well. 2 tracks of The Living End appear on the IM comp. 'Do You Remember Rock'n'Roll?'.
Only 2 songs here: 'Revenge' and 'No Morals'. Those can be found (re-recorded?) on the 'If You Still Believe' 12" as well.
Couldn't remove all crackling vinyl noise.

Nice little comp. on the short-lived Violent Reaction label. Think it was released in 2000. All bands play HC punk, some with a streetpunk edge. The Liberats and The Assailants did some releases on Violent Reaction as well. Clit 45 is the best known band here as they existed from 1996 to 2007. They released 3 albums (on ADD and BYO) and 4 EP's. Must admit that I only know the song on this 7" though. As far as I know the other bands didn't release anything else.

Great Texas HC punk from the late 90's. All their stuff is worth tracking down. They did a 2nd 7" for Havoc, an album for Mind Control and a split album with React on 13th Floor.
Here's Spazm 151's 1st release, on Uncontrolled Records, a small local label that also released EP's of Ballistics and Federal Offense.
Not going to say that this 7" is their best but it's still excellent stuff. It's also the hardest release to find.

First in a series of 2 comp. tapes released by 2 guys I knew very well back in the day. They also put up shows and made some international comp. tapes as well.
Here you'll find all Belgian bands. Some are known, others are lost in complete obscurity. A lot of different styles as well. This tape was issued in 1988. It strikes me, being from Belgium, that some bands I've never seen live and know nothing about.

Mad Noise were from Ostend I think. Not very noisy but basic punkrock.
Struggle For Peace is a band I know nothing about.
Agathocles is the most wellknown band here. 3 early tracks recorded live.
The Dirty Scums is known as well. All live tracks as well (and ripped as one track).
Dawn Of Liberty were from Limburg and played political HC with a metal edge. The only non-UK band that can be found on the 'Vile Peace' comp. LP on Peaceville. Last song 'Divided' is not on the tape and 'Blokkade' is cut off unfortunately.
Bad Influence is the 3rd wellknown band. These tracks were taken from the very 1st demotape.
Who Cares? were also from the coastal area. Recorded live. One of the members later started crossover band M.O.P. who played a lot of gigs. This band came to an end when the drummer shot his ex-girlfriend. Sad but true.
Full Time Drinkers were from Ostend as well. Had Vos on lead vocals, one of the guys who compiled this tape. Lives in Thailand now I guess.
Telefoon Hijgers and Factory Noise are both unknown to me. Last track of Factory Noise is cut off as well.

It's a great snapshot of the Belgian scene in the late 80's. My friend (from whom I borrowed this tape) has the 2nd volume as well.
Agathocles, The Dirty Scums and Bad Influence still exist to this day (although mostly with a different line-up).

1st album of Amsterdam punk band Outrageous. Outrageous was set up by Eric Peters who used to sing for The Nitwitz. The other members went on as BGK.

Peter went on to sing for Amazing Blazing Windmills (grunge) and The Zoo (commercial pop) but is now in glamrock band Bastardz Of Glitter.
After this album released in 1984, followed the '14 Flaming Farts' album (1985). Both were self-released.
In 1987 Outrageous released their last album 'Night Life Crawl', a 12" mini-album, in France on All Or Nothing.

Thanks to the people at 7inchcrust for this rare 7".
This is the 1st release of Gash when they became a trio. Singer Anna left the band and guitarplayer Liz took over the vocals. Like Depression, they also left Reactor Records for Cleopatra. This is also the 2nd phase of this band going a bit more metal. Still like this 7" more than the 'Positive Change' album.
I found out that 'The Lesson' and 'World Turmoil' were released in Germany on a split 7" with Depression. The other 2 tracks can also be heard on the 'Apathy... Never!' comp. album released on Over The Top.
This 7" was released in 1986.

1st release on French label 77 KK. This compilation has one side of French bands, the other has US bands.
I must admit that I'm not a big fan of the typical skunk sound of the French bands. The French scene was full of violence at the time from what I've heard.
The comp. starts with Snix from Lille, one of the most dodgy bands from France. Skinhead band with a violent following. They also released an album on Rock-O-Rama so that says a lot. Not going to accuse them as a WP band but they were very patriotic and probably didn't have a problem with the more extreme side of the skinhead movement. Also did an LP on 77 KK as well.
Warrior Kids brings us a more ska-influenced punk track. Also did an album for 77 KK.
Some of the US bands' tracks were already released but Red Tide, Mission Impossible and Ghost Walks deliver exclusive ones.
Ghost Walks is a follow-up band of Stains (from Portland, not the SST band).

Disgorge - Big Trouble Bachten De Kupe MC

A few bands use Disgorge as bandname but this one is the Belgian one. Maybe some will know them from a split 7" with Agathocles released in the late 80's.
Disgorge started somewhere mid-80's in Veurne, close to the French border and the sea. The area is known as 'Bachten De Kupe' as it lays behind the Yser, a small river that played an important role in the 1st World War.
The later Disgorge sounded pretty grindy with a drummer that really didn't have a problem playing blast beats. He even played once with my old band when our drummer was forced to leave by his parents. Total improvisation and way too fast! But a cool guy nevertheless. They did a 2nd demo "New Wave Sucks" but here is the more hardcore-sounding 1st tape of them released in 1986. Some people think of Zyklome A when listening to this.
It seems that they got some problems with the local new wave folks who laughed at them so hence the title of the song and 2nd demo.
Don't know what happened to them later but I heard a rumour that one of them is a cop now.

9th release on NY label Big City. I think it was originally planned to be released by other people but they didn't have enough money so Big City helped out.
This is a live compilation with Montreal bands Countdown Zero, Vomit And The Zits and Gassenhauer. Scab and Ultra Violence are from NYC and Krakdown from Long Island.
The NY bands were recorded at CBGB's on June 3rd. The Montreal bands at Salle St-Louis De France on July 6th.

Reading 'Trapped In A Scene' by Ian Glasper and visiting the Smurfpunx site from time to time brings back good memories. One of the best gigs I ever attended was in 1988, set up by the Smurfpunx in Netwerk at the city of Aalst. 4 bands played: Anguish from Belgium, Cry Of Terror from Holland and Ripcord & Heresy from the UK.
Can't remember much of Anguish but they were very political. Some members would form Indecency after Anguish split.
Cry Of Terror were a metallic HC band. They released a 7" and 2 albums on Old World Records and contributed to various comps.
And then came Ripcord and Heresy! I was (and still am) very much into them and both played a great set which you can listen to here.
There were like 500 people at the gig and the atmosphere was great. No troubles at all. If I could use the word positive hardcore then it should have been like that all the time.
The European HC scene would soon collapse after bands like Heresy split. Well you still had the straight edge scene and also came along the crusties. The HC scene didn't interest me at all and I started listening to anarcho stuff again as well as all the early Swedish and Finnish bands thanks to bands like Doom and ENT who brought back punk into HC.
The Smurfpunx lost their space to do gigs and folded soon afterwards.
But in Ieper, a new place was created to do gigs called the Vort'n Vis were bands like MDC, Scraps, Nations On Fire, Nausea, No Security, Sedition, Disaffect and even Disorder played.
It also created a schism between the XXX brigade and the drunken crustie punx.

And the guy who yells 'Fur Is Murder' the last time in the song 'Furder' is yours truly (well 22 years ago!).
Tracklists are provided in the files. The last bit of Heresy sounds a bit muddy as the recording was split over 2 tapes.

Not so well known comp. but a very interesting one. Don't think there were a lot of copies pressed of 'People Of The Pit'.
This comp. was released on the Italian label Goddam Church in 1986. Has lots of cool bands from the beginning of the 2nd half of the 80's. Most tracks taken from 7"s or demo tapes.
All bands play their own brand of HC, except Corruption who sound quite metal.
Goddam Church released albums of Stige and Furious Barking and also another comp. in 1990 'Attitudine Mentale Positive'. Also co-released the Crime Gang Bang 7".

Punkband from Saint Paul, Minneapolis. First they were called Propaganda and contributed the the Kitten comp. tape, released by Hüsker Dü. They changed the name after adding an extra guitarplayer in 1982 and they played gigs with Willful Neglect, Hüsker Dü, and other local bands from that time.
MRR review:
What we have here is a bunch of medium-speed punk tunes with a melodic orientation. Songs like "Gun Control" and "Capital Punishment" (which has simplistic "law and order" lyrics) are straightforward numbers with good, strong hooks, but certain other songs are less memorable and lacking in energy. An uneven debut, but Civil Defense have potential.

2nd album of this Spokane, Washington HC/punk band. Vampire Lezbos still exist today and released a CD '2012' last year, available through CDbaby. The band is planning to reissue the older stuff so I don't know how long this link will be up.
Vampire Lezbos are located in Auckland, New Zealand these days.

Obscure comp. tape released by someone from Whyalla, South Australia. An international compilation although the focus is on Australian bands.
Alligator Parade from Victoria starts the tape. They were also featured on the 'Not So Lucky Country' comp.
Next are Germans Alptraum GMBH. They deliver 2 tracks of political thrash.
US thrashers Half Off follows with tracks from both demo tapes.
Government Thrashers deliver 3 tracks of noisy stuff, almost instrumental. They did a demo tape on this tape label as well. So probably the person who compiled this tape was a member of the band.
Bodies from Melbourne were already broke up. They appeared on the 'Eat Your Head' comp. and released 2 demos.
Last band is Public Execution from Brisbane. Wellknown in KBD circles for their 1982 7". These tracks probably taken from demos.
This tape was released on Music Not Money Tapes I guess 1986/87.

Got some more goodies of a friend to share with you all.
Here's the album of Portland punks The S.L.A (or SLA). Don't know much of this band but you could already hear them on the 'City Of Thorns' comp. on Mystic.
First 11 tracks were produced by Greg Sage (Wipers). Last 2 tracks are live recordings and not really interesting.
'Evil Empire' was released in 1985 on their own Eat Me Records label.
Here's a review from MRR:
A really intense album, both musically and thematically. The SLA have growling vocals à la FARTZ, and a very raw instrumental attack; the songs range from careening thrashers to more complex but less hard-hitting cuts. The lyrics are unabashedly radical, whether dealing with wage slavery, national chauvinism, or media sensationalism, but the choice of the band name leaves something to be desired since there is some evidence suggesting that the real Symbionese Liberation Army were police provocateurs rather than genuine and very stupid militants.

Brave New World - Initiation MLP

This one is for the more adventurous among us. Not your typical punk/HC record here.
The singer reminds me of John Lydon from time to time as well as Jello Biafra. A lot of diversity on this record. They even use keyboards on 'Sitcom'.
'Initiation' was the band's 1st vinyl release in 1984. Seems there's a tape released before this one according to KFTH.
Brave New World released all their records on their own Homemade Records label but Fartblossom Enterprizes helped distributing.
After 'Initiation' came a 3 track 7" and the 'Noise From The Heart' LP on which they move further from their punk roots.

Poptonto - Time To Think LP

Not so wellknown album of Poptonto, HC punk band from Richmond, VA. This was the 3rd release on Disrupted Records, the label of Prevaricators. Released in 1986.
This is what the Flex site writes about 'Time To Think': the structure of the songs is very simple, but the music has a lot of power and drive, and the production is good, too. This reminds me of the simpler side of early LA hardcore, especially the cool chunky guitar sound. Good record, even though it was released a few years too late.
On '7 To The Sky' and 'Right To Life', the band got help from Slugfest. Don't know what this could mean. Seems that Slugfest was another band from the area. Last song 'Sponge' was sung by guitarist Scott Wagner. The weakest song: it almost lasts for 6 minutes.
The album is dedicated to David E. Wagner who died before the album was completed.

My most recent release posted here. This split 7" was released in 2003 on the very small Wolfman Records label and pretty hard to find.

Funeral Shock may be known to a few of you. They have members of Capitalist Casualties, Spazz, Deadbodieseverywhere and Wuzor and have a slew of releases on Controlled By Plague/Tankcrimes, Six Weeks and Cowabunga. All of them are worth checking out. Great 80's style hardcore punk in the vein of Bad Posture, Sick Pleasure. 'Burnin' Hell' is a punked up version of a song by blues legend John Lee Hooker.
Don't know anything about US Of Shit. Their only release I guess. 7 very short songs of lo-fi, raw old style HC punk. There are only 6 titles/lyrics on the sleeve. No title for their 5th track.

U.S. Distress - Isn't Life Grand? LP

First and only album of Wisconsin band U.S. Distress released on their own Stress Records label in 1988.

U.S. Distress already existed from 1984 or so, releasing a 14-track demo full of raging hardcore punk. There seems to be another demo released in 1987 called 'Nowhere Fast'.
On this record, the band evolved to a more rocking sound. More midtempo songs although it contains a few shorter and faster tracks. Seems they got bored playing HC and went for a punk sound with guitar leads and all. Most will prefer the early sound I guess but this record is worth a listen.

I copied from what's written on the Mad At The World Records flyer that comes with the 7":

Didn't know about this band until recently they were mentioned in the comments' section.
Stand Off were one of those late 90's hardcore punk bands from Wisconsin. In fact they had 2 members of the more wellknown Default.
Stand Off did another 7" which is a split with 10-96.
The 'Over All' 7" had 2 pressings: the 1st one is a split label release between Distraught Records and Power Ground Records. My copy is the 2nd press on Power Ground records, limited to 300 copies.
3rd track is 'Negative Thoughts' as stated on the label; the back of the sleeve states 'Stand Off' as title.
This one has no cat.# and I'm still looking to complete the label's discography.

V/A Necrophile Orgasm Tape

Here's a rare tape released in New Zealand sometime 1987/88 I guess.
New Zealand is known for it's early punk bands but for the rest the punk scene was quite isolated back in the 80's. Most bands kept playing the UK punk style and hardcore emerged quite late.
There were a handful of small punk labels like Sound Mind (run by the band Compos Mentis), Positive Youth Promotions (Armatrak, Five Year Mission) and Out Of Order. That label released a comp. 7" in 1987 with 5 HC bands which was the 1st stuff I ever heard from New Zealand. Out Of Order also released a Compos Mentis/Powerage split 7" and the very rare Nazgûl 12".
This comp. tape was released by Sonik Lobotomy Tapess. It's a 90 mins. long tape so I split it in two files. The sound quality is pretty lo-fi. This is a copy from a copy from a copy but I guess that the original tape doesn't sound much better. There's some noisy stuff on it as well.

For those who want some more Aspirin Feast, here's the comp. EP with 2 tracks of them. Other bands are Meat Minder, North American Bison and DUMT. Nice to listen to but Aspirin Feast blows them all away.
This 7" is a limited press of 500 copies and released on Jam Records in 1992. There's a 2nd volume as well but never heard it but is more punk oriented (oa. The Rickets).

Another generous gift from Donut Duck!
Was really curious about this EP of Italian band Nighters. Already knew it was more in the mid tempo punk vein but it's a nice listen. This record doesn't show up very often for sale and it's not so known. It was released in 1984 on New Rose Records (not the French label). You can find some reviews of this 7" on KFTH.
I'm not sure, but I've read that Nighters had (an) ex-member(s) of Bloody Riot, a band that did a self-released 7" in 1983 and an LP on Mecano.

2nd installment in the Sound Of USA Cities series on Mystic. This one compiles bands from Portland.
Ä lot of unknown bands here except for Wehrmacht, Rancid Vat and SLA.
There's actually an extra song of Wehrmacht on the album but I don't know which one. I ripped it together with the "E" track.
Rancid Vat has a live recording of an Alice Cooper song. The band name is spelled wrong on the sleeve as Rancid Bat.

'Shattered Silence' was also released on BYO (Better Youth Organisation) in the US in 1984. Seems to be a split release with Canada label Headbutt as the logo appears on the sleeve. Headbutt released also the Stretchmarks 7" and Some Weird Sin LP.

Time for some Japanese hardcore now.
The 'Hardcore Showcase' LP was released on Stomping Record in 1989 and has 9 bands from Sendai city. Most bands are pretty unknown but play raging hardcore here. For those more in the knowledge of Japanese HC will know that Lance Lot released a 7" flexi 'Eat The Dream' on Stomping Record as well.
Fat Slave and Banish Arms also appear on the 'Give Us The Time To Play' comp. double EP with other Sendai bands Half Life, Gang Thrust and Rich Mate Rally (ex-Reach A Mental Road, who did a split 7" with Hiatus on MCR).
Banish Arms also appears on the 2nd Japcore comp. LP released on Discipline/Vinyl Japan called 'Who's Chained Up To The Dogs Of Outrage!!'.

Another one of my friend's collection. I know that this one has already been posted elsewhere but my friend told me that the rips he found are of atrocious quality. That's what you get from taking rips off soulseek.
The 'We Can't Help It If We're From Florida' comp. documents the Florida scene around 1983. It was released on Destroy Records, the label run by Roach Motel. Roach Motel did 2 classic 7"s.
Also Sector 4 did a 7" on Destroy Records in 1983.
Morbid Opera is an all-girl band I think. Also did a 7" on their own Sublapse label. This label also released the Gay Cowboys In Bondage 7".
Hated Youth is one of the better stuff here. Fast raging HC. Luckily Bob Suren of Sound Idea/Burrito Records (RIP) had contact with one of the ex-members and released a 7" and split LP of unreleased Hated Youth songs. All worth getting.
Not much known on Rat Cafeteria. No other recordings available.

Not to be confused with the 90's punkband. This one is the band from Muskegon, MI. The label states the bandname as Elvis Roy And The Disappointments. Think this 7" was released in 1987.
They were also the backing band of GG Allin when he played in Muskegon.
21 tracks of HC thrash with lots of changes. Elvis Roy blasts his lyrics at high velocity through the ultra-short songs.

Here's the 1st split LP of Australian bands released on Flipside to help introduce them to the US HC scene. 2nd one is the Depression/Gash split.

Vicious Circle's side starts with a few songs never released on their own releases. The song 'Rights Dub' is a re-worked version of 'Police Brutality', one of their best known songs as it appeared on the War/Peace comp. on Rradical. The last 5 tracks is the complete 'Search For The Solution' 7", originally released on Reactor in 1985.

I think anyone already know about Depression as one of the 1st HC bands from Australia. They did some other great releases like the self-titled LP, 'Australia, Australia' 12" on Reactor.
Later they signed to Cleopatra for a live album, the 'Big Brother' 7" and 'Thrash Till Death' LP.

Love Canal - It's A Dogs Life So Blow It Out Yer Ass LP

Requested by many so here it finally is.
Had to lend a copy of a friend as my copy has one side slightly off-centre causing some warped sound.
Named after a Niagara Falls, NY neighborhood built on a massive toxic waste dump, Love Canal from Huntington Beach, CA, formed in 1982 after The Skoundrelz broke up.
They also appeared on the "Half Skull" comp. 7" on Insane Industries as well as on the Mystic comp. "Clockwork Orange County" and "Covers". Well they play a Hendrix tune here.
The album was recorded in 1985 except for the last 4 tracks which were recorded in 1983 and suffer from lesser quality unfortunately.
"Funk You", "Friends" and "Lurking In The Dark" were originally written by pre-Love Canal band The Skoundrelz. I think The Skoundrelz appeared on one of the BCT comp. tapes.

Singer Kerry was in Motherfist after Love Canal split up.

Read somewhere that Grand Theft Audio planned to release a discography CD but I've never seen one.

There's a MySpace page for the band . Seems they reformed in 2007 and play live again.

The LP was released in 1985 on National Trust Records.

Got some requests for this one so here it is (yep, the Love Canal LP will follow soon).
"Welcome To Ax/ction Island' was released in 1986 on Ax/ction Records run by the people of Psycho.
Side A starts with Boston band and Psycho offshoot Cancerous Growth. Released one 7" EP, 2 LP's and one live 7", all on Ax/ction. Albums (with extra tracks) came out in Germany as well.
Stupids is the only non-US band here. One of the 1st UK bands with a USHC sound.
GG Allin needs no introduction. You love him or hate him. Weird choice.
Psycho started as a HC band but later changed to grindcore. There's a discography out with all the early (non-grind) stuff.
Spastic Rats did one 7" "Rodentia" posted here before.
PTL Klub is one of the most underrated Boston HC bands and one of my faves.
The Scam also released a 7" on Ax/ction, posted here before. Just got a comment from Eric that a discography CD is planned as well as a vinyl edition of the unreleased "Sic World" LP. Funny to see that this album was planned as ACT 12 on the label info sheet included with this release.

Mystery Band

Here's a record that puzzles me already for a long time. Have it on tape since the late 80's.
According to the info I have, the band should be Anal Babies and the 7" is called "Let's Party" but I haven't found any info on this one. Already checked sites like Flex, Kill From The Heart and various have/want lists but this one never shows up. So the info is probably wrong, or the record is extremely rare. A friend of mine didn't recognize it as well and he has a trained ear concerning HC stuff.
The 7" contains 8 tracks. Unfortunately, I have no tracklisting.
It's definitely a US (or Canadian?) band from around 1986-87.

Hope someone can solve the mystery.

UPDATE: Thanks to Dr. Phibes we know that it's indeed Anal Babies from Sacramento, CA.

Quality is pretty shitty, but I managed to upgrade the sound a bit while ripping.

Compilation album released in Italy in 1986. It was released by Senzapatria, an anti-authoritarian and anti-militarist organisation from Sondrio.

4 bands participate:
Midgard (Milano) play 2 tracks of crossover; more metal than hardcore.
Link Lärm (Padova) play 4 tracks of HC punk. They also released an 11-track demo.
Disperazione (Como) is the most wellknown here. This is from their later period so expect more metal in their sound.
Antisbarco (Chioggia) ends the comp. with 3 tracks of HC punk.

First full length of this Pittsburgh punkband.
Half Life already started in 1984. Their first release was the 'What's Right' demo tape in 1985, later re-released on LP/CD. In 1986 they released the 'Under The Knife' 7". The sound changed from typical punk anthems to a more heavy sound.
'Never Give In' was released in 1989 on Skyclad and was produced by Tom Lyle.
The band split up in 1990.

Order Of Decay released 2 records on Norwood label Dominator Records & Tapes. Can't find much info but the LP is posthumously released as singer Philthy Phil passed away in 1989 at the age of 23. Don't know how he died.

Dominator released a variety of stuff : from HC punk of Filthy Scumbags, Order Of Decay, Arm The Insane to dark indierock like The Mark Of Cain. At the end the label went completely deathmetal.

I think there were a few bands called Blitzkrieg back in the day but this is the band from Amsterdam. Not a lot is known on them but they managed to release an album 'Complete Disarmament' in 1983. Lots of short songs played very fast and a few longer mid-tempo songs.

There's a clock ticking in between the songs (although I ripped the first couple of tracks without the clock ticking, sorry). The lyrics are CRASS-style political rants covering the usual punk topics. Sung both in Dutch and English.

Puncture Wound was a Cleveland, Ohio HC band active in the late 90's. Not that I know alot about them but if you like Inmates, H-100s, 9 Shocks Terror or Gordon Solie Motherfuckers, then you'll probably like this one.
This 7" was released in 1999 on Bloodclot Records (fifth release) as well as on Human Stench (1st release), a now defunct label out of Pittsfield, MA. that reissued the comps. 'Last White Christmas' and 'I Thrash Therefore I Am' on CD (originally tapes on BCT).
Found a page on some Cleveland labels and related bands, if you're interested in that scene.
Most releases are limited and some sell out fast. Anyone who wants to get rid of his/her 1st Inmates 7"?

Produced by Rikk Agnew. Thin production and somewhat generic HC punk but an enjoyable listen.
'Pity Me' is only a few seconds long. 'My Generation' is a cover of that famous rock band (who?).
And one can also discuss the band name and cover art.
The vocalist later showed up in Doggy Style.
